1 Peter 2:4–5 (ESV) — 4 “As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
MORNING: Jesus is a living stone in a spiritual house. The word “living” speaks of true life. Life is found only in Christ. We are to come to Him as the source of true life. Coming to Him is not just the act of salvation but drawing near to Him moment by moment. We too are like living stones in God’s spiritual house. Through Christ we have life!
How do we draw near to Christ as our living stone? First, we recognize that real life is found only in Him. We look to Him as the author and finisher of our faith. Secondly, we seek to follow His Word and communicate with Him in prayer. Finally, by the power of His Holy Spirit, we become “doers of His Word”. By nature, we are God’s obedient children. Through obedience we can fully experience the manifest presence of Christ.“Father God, on this Sunday morning, I want to draw near to Christ as a living stone in Your spiritual Temple. I recognize that true life is found only in Him. Prepare my heart to worship with my church family this morning. Remove all distractions so that I can see Jesus. In His name, amen”
